Welcome to Taieri Swimming Club.

Taieri Swim Club operates at Mosgiel Community Pool.  Our lessons and squads run from September to the end of March.  We cater for learn to swim through to competitive squads.   Children must be 5 years and older.   Membership is limited by pool space and availability of coaches.  Currently the club has approximately 100 swimmers.  15% of our members are registered competitive swimmers.  More information can be found under About Us.

Talk to your coach about what to enter.  This meet is a fun meet for swimmers who can swim 25m plus.  Entries close with Susan Feb 21 or online Fri 23 Feb.

2018 NZ Junior Festival - Makos

The NZ Junior Festival – Makos Zone is one of four festivals aimed at junior swimmers (12 years and under) held by Swimming New Zealand.

The festivals are held concurrently around the country in each of the four zones, and are as follows Harlequins (Auckland), Aqua Knights (Rotorua), All Stars (Wellington), and Makos (Dunedin). 

The Makos Festival is held in conjunction with Swimming Otago as the Host Region and will be held on the 16-18 February 2018, at the Moana Pool, Dunedin**.

The Makos Zone includes all clubs from the Nelson/Marlborough, Canterbury West Coast, Otago, and Southland regions

The following swimmers qualified and represented Taieri Swim Club at this meet:

Niamh Burke, Lewis Divers, Keira Hughes, Harry Summers, Harrison Thode, Erin Willis, Renee Willis, Finn Wilson

 All swimmers attained personal bests, with Harrison and Renee achieving 100% pbs. Harry attained 9 out of 10 pbs, Niamh 6 out of 7 personal bests.

Top Taieri Swimmer Harry Summers came away with 6 gold, 3 silver and 1 bronze medal out of his ten swims. He also broke 4 Taieri Club Records (Subject to ratification) and 9 personal bests.  He was also top individual point scorer of everyone at the meet.  Well done Harry!

Harry Summers (11 years) 1st 100 fr, 50 and 200 breastroke, 50 butterfly, 100 and 200 Individual Medley. 2nd in 50 and 200 free, 100 fly and 3rd 50 backstroke

Harrison Thode (10yrs): 5th 50 breastroke, 7th 100 Individual Medley and 100 Breastroke, 8th 100 free

 Renee Willis (12years): 5th 50 backstroke and 200 fly, 7th 100 backstroke

 Niamh Burke (12years): 8th 200 Backstroke

 Finn Wilson (11 years): 7th 100 breastroke

Personal Bests:  Renee 8/8, Harrison 6/6, Harry 9/10, Niamh 6/7, Erin 2/3,Keira 2/5 Lewis 1/4, Finn 1/4

Taieri Relay Team placed 13th in the 12 and under mixed Individual Medley Relay (Niamh, Finn, Harry, Erin)

An awesome achievement for Taieri Club who placed 12th out of 25 Clubs with 1780 points beating other Dunedin Clubs Neptune who were on 1220 points (15th) and Kiwi on 1060 (17th)   https://swimming.org.nz/visageimages/makos%20club%20points%204.pdf


Alex Cup
Fantastic results, lots of pbs and lots of fun!
Congrats to Harry who got 8 first placings, overall age group winner ($25), skins winner ($25) and broke Taieri Club Records in 50 fr (his own) and Coach Courtlands 50 Back (both to be ratified). Harry got 3 pbs.
Kylie came away with 100% pbs (6/6), 2nd in 50 fly and 3rd 50 back.  Well done Kylie!
Harrison got 2 pbs and placed 2nd in 100 br. Harrison was also in the skins race but unfortunately was eliminated....
Laura got 2pbs, swam her first 200 fly and placed 1st and also placed 3rd in 50 br and 200 fr. Laura was in the skins race but unfortunately was eliminated.
Jordan got 4 firsts and 1 second, 3rd overall in her age group and was in the skins race and got to final 3.
Erin 1 pb in her 200 fr
Kristin placed 2nd in 200 IM
Renee placed 2nd in 100 fly, 3rd 100 back and got 5pbs and swam 200 br for the first time
Jessie 2 pbs including a whopping 43 second pb in 400 fr

Country Clubs (Queenstown)
Laura, Kristin, Erin and Renee backed up Alex Cup on Saturday with Country Clubs on Sunday.
Competition was tough and pbs weren't easy to come by for everyone who attended the meet. Laura placed 3rd 100 fr and 100 IM, Kristin did an awesome 50 fly pb and Renee PB in 100 br (7sec) and 50 fly. Erin pb in 100 fr.

2017/18 Season Michelle Summers will be coaching squad, assisted by Courtland Ellis.

Squad sessions, Tuesday/Thursday 6-7pm and Saturdays 10.30-12noon.
